Indra is a storm god, wielder of the thunderbolt, Vajra. He has a violent nature and an insatiable thirst for intoxication. Drunk on high quantity of soma, worth a hundred cows, seizing the thunderbolt, he is preparing to set off to [[battle]].
<<audio "asura" play>>
You have been born into this world as Shukra, the asura priestess who is performing tapasya (generation of heat and energy). After an unfortunate argument with her father, she decided to hang herself upside down from the branch of a tree over a raging fire, breathing nothing but smoke for a thousand years. There she came to possess the knowledge that enabled her to [[resurrect the Asuras]] killed by the Devas in battle.
You are Manu, a Manava born with an extraordinary [[purpose]].

Humiliated by the arrogance of Indra, the prime sage at his court curses and banishes him to the life of a [[forest wanderer]].
Under the earth is Patala, where the Asuras live, who have been at con- stant war with the devas. Seeing the throne abandoned, Shukra initiates a [[siege]] on Mt. Meru. Nothing in the Indian folklore happens spontaneously.
A curse is a manifestation of debt.
A boon is manifestation of equity.
Curses and boons link action to reaction.
Fortune is predestined.
